Henry is some sort of mix. I'm his human and am enjoying the process of bringing up a little one. This blog takes you on my journey and records progress...it is already apparent Henry's human needs advice and some positive reinforcement!

Wedding Weekend
Henry, Sue, Greg and Steph went on a wedding camping weekend. Wedding attendees filled a large section of a campground and Henry got very, very dirty. It was a great weekend.
The bride was lovely, of course. Her son walked her through the grass and trees to the groom. Henry was well behaved - he and Greg patrolling the perimeter of the festivities. The travel trailer was too warm to leave the pup.
As a reward for being such a good boy, Henry got a portrait plate made by the brides mom! Very neat.
The camping included great food and yummy smores and campfire popcorn - plus, of course, visits with old and new friends. On the trip down the mountain, we passed Idlyewild and some really beautiful dry forest vistas. We may need to make another trip up that twisty road - there appears to be some great hiking possibilities. The mountain is littered huge boulders laying exposed on top of both hills and gullies. I want to closer look! Henry sees them as many pee possibilities!

A Bit Disgruntled
So, let me tell you how this all started. Mom was worried because I kept gnawing on my paws. She is always pulling out twigs and burrs. I guess that's why I keep getting clipped. We live around trees and camp out in the forest. What the heck does she expect? This time she had the groomer guy do the poodle thing with the paws. Very sissie, and I'm still gnawing the tootsies.
.....So what does mama do? She takes me to the vet and tells all kinds of tales. She even took in a poo sample. How humiliating. It is sometimes difficult to hold up my head in doggie society. She says I'm scraping bottom. Well. Humph. Some stuff is private. I was so embarrassed.
So what does the vet say? She's thinking food allergies and Mom is going to put me on a diet of white rice and egg. Heck. I'm a dog. I'm 16# and 10oz of handsome. Rice and egg? No more Blue Buffalo Wilderness? What the heck. I don't like the blueberries in it anyhow.

Trip Preparations
Henry is busy helping me prepare for our trip.....well, we both might be thinking about preparations. Henry is now trimmed and clipped - and feeling a lot less fluffy. In hopes that forest burrs will stop getting stuck in his paws, his toe fur is clipped like a poodle. Sissy humiliation is there. No teasing!

Trip and Trip Preparations
My phone would not forward photos or post - today it has been I-phone Genius fixed so here is a quick check on my post Eugene travels with Henry - The top photo is our spot at Castle Crags State Park in Northern California - it was our first night driving south from Eugene. It was beautiful and quiet, but Henry and I were pooped, so we really just slept through the experience and didn't manage to hike much.
The second night was at San Luis Reservoir State Park in Central California. Who would have known there was a huge reservoir hidden away just a few miles off the highway? Very nice - and down a couple of spots there was another fiberglass trailer! It was the only fiberglass I saw on the way south. I was right on the reservoir and there were only three spots taken in the camp on our mid week visit. Nice!
Currently my boy Henry is at the groomers. He is getting polished up for a few days at the kennel. Yes, I dread the thought of the kennel, but he seemed to like it pretty well on his last single night visit and this time (since it will be three nights) I've reserved a large room with a TV and pet videos. I am not going to make him fly with us to Stephanie's graduation - so that's what we came up with. He needs people and play time. So here is my handsome boy pre-groomers.
For our next excursion I'm working on covering a second pad for the goucho bed. One with just 3" thickness was not working for sleeping. And, no! I did not manage to match the stripes. Life is just not perfect. There is a surprise.
